Body Language
Parrots can mimic speech but one of their true communication skills comes through body language. With body
language they will tell us if they're happy, content, scared, feeling ill, hungry, tired, mad, or simply in
need or wanting a little TLC. It is important for you to understand this language to create and maintain a
successful relationship with your feathered friend.
Another communication skill comes through sounds. Growling, clicking and even barking are various sounds your
parrots will make to tell you something's up and you need to pay attention. Similar to body language it is
important to understand various sounds to maintain a successful relationship with your parrot. After all if you
want to cuddle and your parrot doesn't, what do you think the result will be?

Hi Val,
How are you enjoying the summer? It's been a lot of rain down here...lol.
I did make it to Magic Mountain once this summer though. Mcawlie is doing awesome...little miss piggy!!!!
She can eat. Lol... I am now teaching her or hoping she will learn the ring toss game she loves to
chew the rings...or swing on them if I hold them,
I made her bed and she used
it but it was my first attempt and it was too big I got the idea of a macaw dream bed site. Anyway have a
great weekend.

Parrots for the most part are self-centered, with a "me first" mentality. Sharing your life with a parrot is a
very serious decision; one that should be made with much care and consideration. You should never buy a bird on
impulse. Put some thought into your decision, do some research, ask questions, read books, search the Internet.

Hi Val!
On the Morning of Tuesday
7th of July, I woke
up to the yelling of
our new baby Quaker
Casey...at first I
tried to ignore him...but,
he
wouldn't stop...he
got louder and more
insistent...I wasn't
too impressed, I'd
been checking new puppies
every two hours all
night, and it was 1/2
hour before I had to
check again, so, I
dragged my butt out
of bed, opened the
bedroom door....Oh
my god!!!!! Dense,
thick Smoke...and Stinky
burning smell! ......
I yelled to Hubby Jim
to get up, and started
trying to find the
source...The heat lamp
had fallen in the playpen
in the living room
with the four pups
and Mum. Bits of the
playpen were smouldering
around the light fixture
in a charred circle...falling
onto the carpet and
smouldering. I grabbed
the pups in my t-shirt,
let mum out in the
yard, and Jim threw
the whole starting
to burn mess outside
in the yard. Casey
is a hero...he saved
all of us, and the
pups, momma and house!
